Modi’s Final Roadshow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schedule for the West Bengal Assembly elections has been finalized through talks started by the State BJP. Notably, the specifics of Prime Minister Modi’s ultimate engagement have already been decided, even while these talks have begun. The location of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s final roadshow during the second, or final, phase of the election campaign has been determined by the BJP. Party sources claim that Bhawanipur will be a stop on Prime Minister Modi’s last roadshow on this visit.
Election campaigning in this area is anticipated to peak between April 24 and April 27 while voting for the second phase, which includes 142 constituencies throughout South Bengal, including Kolkata, is slated for April 29. As part of the West Bengal Assembly elections, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to conduct his final roadshow in Kolkata. The Prime Minister’s roadshow has not yet been decided upon, nor is it certain which parts of Kolkata it will pass through. Nonetheless, it has been determined that the Bhawanipur Assembly constituency will undoubtedly be included in the Prime Minister’s schedule.
BJP sources claim that Modi’s final roadshow in Kolkata might start in Bhawanipur, or it might start somewhere else and end in the city. The Prime Minister’s security protocols, approval from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and clearance from the Special Protection Group (SPG) are only a few of the many variables that affect the route’s finalization.

Bhawanipur is one of the two constituencies from which Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari will run in the next election. Chief Minister Mamata ran in Suvendu’s constituency of Nandigram in the Assembly election five years ago, but she lost by a margin of 1,956 votes. Suvendu, the leader of the opposition, is running in Mamata’s Bhawanipur constituency this time. For the previous three to four months, there had been conjecture that Suvendu may run from Bhawanipur in addition to Nandigram. West Bengalis will once again see a Mamata-versus-Suvendu contest in 2026, as they did in 2021, according to the BJP’s first list of candidates, which was released on March 16.

The Election Commissioner has informed the state’s police and administrative officials about the procedures for monitoring during elections. These directions are currently being distributed to lower-level police officers by the Kolkata Police. To supervise this effort, Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Nanda visited the Bhangar Police Station on Sunday before moving on to the Hare Street Police Station. Commissioner Ajay Kumar Nanda said after departing the latter that senior staff are now working to communicate the Commission’s orders.
The West Bengal police administration has already been informed by the Election Commission about the procedures for keeping an eye on the polls that are set for April 23 and 29. The recently appointed Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Ajay Kumar Nand, has taken the initiative to make sure that all police officers in all of the police stations within the Kolkata Police’s authority are aware of this information. He went to two Kolkata Police force police stations on Sunday. Nand said, “I am visiting the stations to interact with the police officers here,” during his visit to the Hare Street Police Station. Six specified goals must be fulfilled in accordance with the Commission’s recommendations for the conduct of the elections.
