Mamata ‘shocked’ by Bose’s resignation, In recent years, Ravi has frequently fought with the anti-BJP Stalin government. Stalin, the governor of Tamil Nadu, had declared last year that he would not go to Ravi’s Independence Day tea party. Since 2023, Stalin’s administration has refrained from attending the Raj Bhavan tea function. President Droupadi Murmu was asked to remove the governor by the Tamil Nadu government a few years ago.

Governor Ravi brought up the subject of disparaging the national anthem in the Tamil Nadu Assembly earlier this year. He did not read the government-written speech before leaving the meeting. This time, Ravi will serve as both Tamil Nadu’s and this state’s acting governor. Interestingly, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, has a tight relationship with Tamil Nadu’s anti-BJP chief minister.

Mamata did not specifically address the matter, but her party, Trinamool, has taken aim at the Center. “Did Governor Bose have to resign because he rejected Amit Shah’s proposal to impose President’s rule in West Bengal and hold assembly elections on time?” asked State Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya. Did he face pressure from the BJP or the central government?

“The state has assembly elections in April,” Chandrima claimed. The governor is being forced to resign a month prior to that. because the BJP opposes timely elections. She also voiced concerns about the timely publication of the final and comprehensive voter list during the SIR phase. However, state BJP chief spokesperson Debjit Sarkar stated that he has learned that Bose’s departure was due to illness.
