Playing for Worcestershire, Bethel became well-known. His limited-overs cricket runs and strokes immediately attracted attention. “The Hundred” and “T20 Blast” gave him a chance. He received a call from England after performing well there as well. In his second Twenty20 competition, Bethel led the nation to victory with a half-century.
In just three months, Bethel made his debut for England in all three formats. In September 2024, he participated in his first Twenty20 International. Pope’s persistent failure gave Bethel another chance. He was part of the Oval Test team. But after scoring 11 runs in two innings, he was dropped once more. He was then abruptly summoned to the Ashes. The remainder is history.
