West Bengal SIR effect

West Bengal SIR effect, The final voter list for West Bengal’s first SIR phase has been made public by the Election Commission. By inputting their EPIC number (Voter ID number) online, voters can verify if their names appear online. 5 lakh 46 thousand 53 people’s names were omitted from the first phase’s final list.

There were 7 crore 8 million 16 thousand 630 names on the draft list. The draft list did not include 58 lakh 20 thousand 899 individuals. Consequently, a total of 63 lakh 66 thousand 952 persons have been excluded thus far. Form number 6 has added 1 lakh 82 thousand 36 new names, while Form number 8 has added 6 thousand 671 names. The list released on Saturday indicates that there are 7 crore 4 lakh 59 thousand 284 voters in the state.

West Bengal SIR effect,Out of the 7 crore 4 lakh 59 thousand 284 names, 60 lakh 6 thousand 675 names are still being considered, according to the list that was made public on Saturday. Along with former state judges, judges from Jharkhand and Odisha are taking this into consideration. This may leave out a few more names. At the same time, the names of new voters will also be added.

A number of political parties had expressed concerns regarding the SIR process’s procedural shortcomings, particularly the TMC and the CPIM. Manoj Agarwal, the state’s chief electoral officer, acknowledged that there were “some errors” in the list when it was made public on Saturday. He also emphasized how insignificant these mistakes are in this enormous process. Additionally, he stated that the commission has taken corrective action in all cases where an error occurred.

West Bengal SIR effect,Manoj said stated that the assembly and booth-wise lists would be accessible on the internet starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at 5:20 p.m. “The software encountered some issues when uploading the lists of two assembly constituencies,” Manoj stated. Jadavpur and Bidhannagar are the two assembly constituencies under question.

On October 27 of last year, the commission announced a special revision of the voter list; at that time, the total number of voters in the state was 76.637529; the draft list was published on December 16 following the enumeration phase; 58.20899 people were excluded from the list; the names of 78.16630 people were included in the list; on Saturday, the commission released the names of all these voters as the final list, of which 31.68426 were identified for hearing.

West Bengal SIR effect, These voters were unable to demonstrate a connection to the most recent SIR from 2002. The panel called for a hearing on the list of logical inconsistencies with the remaining 12 lakh voters. Approximately 14.2 lakh voters were heard in all.

Verification and settlement of 1.42 crore voters’ documents was the initial point of contention between the state and the commission after West Bengal SIR effect. Regarding the documentation of 82 lakh voters, the commission concurred with the AEROs and EROs. They said that after being chosen during the hearing, over 5 lakh names were eliminated. However, there was a dispute regarding the 60 lakh votes who remained. The ERO and AEROs’ decision did not satisfy the commission.

The commission’s appointed micro observers are accused of holding a different view. Later, the judges were tasked by the Supreme Court with resolving the cases involving these 60 lakh voters. Up till the final day of nominations for the next assembly elections, the list of over 60 lakh voters would be released gradually. The commission is retaining it as pending for the time being, even though it will be released with the final list. They believe that additional names will be excluded in the future if the remaining voters are settled.

The commission has classified voters into “categories” in the first phase’s final list, which was made public on Saturday. The words “deleted” have been used to indicate those who were left out. Those 60 lakh 6 thousand 675 individuals whose names are on the list but whose documents have not yet been confirmed and finalized are marked as “under review.” They have also ‘approved’ eligible voters.
