Railway Minister promise pledges ₹1 lakh crore investment in Bengal
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was sat next to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Nabanna on Saturday, announced that the state’s government has changed. She promised to provide the Railways with all the assistance they needed for their many projects, including the purchase and transfer of land if needed. She and the Railway Minister also made fun of the previous Trinamool government, claiming that their lack of cooperation had caused a number of development projects to stagnate. The state’s citizens will now benefit. In the future, it will be feasible to travel from Siliguri to Delhi by bullet train in just six hours thanks to projects worth ₹1 lakh crore that the Railways has already approved for the state.
This is the Railway Minister’s first trip to Kolkata since the BJP government took over the state a month ago. He was congratulated by the Chief Minister for giving the state his entire day. The state would now fully cooperate with the railroads, she said, adding that the people of the state had previously been denied railway advantages under the Modi administration because of the previous administration’s lack of cooperation. The public would soon reap the benefits of a “double-engine” government, she continued.

Suvendu said, “We must endeavor to increase railway connectivity throughout the state; District Magistrates must pay attention to the state’s vision and objectives.” The government’s direction is unambiguous: the Railways finance the purchase of land. We will purchase the land and provide it to the Railways when needed.” “We must provide whatever cooperation the Railways seeks,” he continued in a firm tone. Make a timetable outlining the locations and times when railway land can be made available.
Railway Minister Ashwini-ji rode the Kolkata Metro early on Saturday. He then met with the state government in Nabanna. The halted Metro project in Chingrighata was finished in 48 hours, according to Chief Secretary Manoj Agrawal. The state government’s lack of consent had left seventy projects unfinished. Suvendu attributed this circumstance to the mindset of the former administration. “The previous government maintained a confrontational stance towards the Railways,” he said. They caused the relationship between the Center and the State to deteriorate to such an extent that Bengalis suffered. He continued, “Work worth over ₹1 lakh crore will be undertaken in the railway sector. The 11 crore people of Bengal have been denied the benefits of the development brought about by Modi-ji.” Ashwini-ji has promised. The money is available, and the project will move forward quickly.”
Suvendu spoke about the benefits the people of Bengal would receive from the railways in the future.

Suvendu went on to describe the advantages that the state’s citizens would soon enjoy. In order to make it possible to get from the capital to Siliguri in six hours, he said that a bullet train will travel from Delhi to Siliguri via Lucknow and Varanasi. The ‘Amrit Bharat’ program would also build 538 flyovers and underpasses and upgrade 102 stations around the state. “The previous government did not engage with the Railway Ministry,” he said, making fun of the Trinamool government. They did not collaborate or reply to the Railway Minister’s many letters. Suvendu also took issue with the previous UPA government at the Center, saying, “Bengal received ₹4,380 crore for Metro and various railway projects between 2009 and 2014.” Modi-ji has set aside ₹14,205 crore for railway development in Bengal for the 2026–2027 budget year since he loves the state. Investments above ₹1 lakh crore are possible if the required NOCs and land are supplied for ongoing railway projects. He added that the state will receive 60 additional trains over the next five years and that the “double-engine” government had given 40 NOCs (No Objection Certificates) for underpasses.
Allegations and Promises by the Railway Minister
The Railway Minister praised Suvendu at the outset of his speech. “I congratulate him on saving Bengal and the nation,” he declared. Railroad employees will now have the chance to work. He then made fun of the Trinamool by pointing out that projects used to be denied sanction by the previous state government. They disregarded the High Court’s orders and even went to court to halt the work at Chingrighata.
“They [the Trinamool government] went to the Supreme Court to ensure the residents of Kolkata would not benefit from the Metro,” he said. In Parliament, I had referred to them as “anti-development.” “Much good work lies ahead,” he said, reassuring. Modi-ji’s love for the state is demonstrated via the Kolkata Metro. Only 28 kilometers of track were built in the 42 years since work started in 1972. However, Modi-ji has built 45 kilometers of Metro lines since taking office in 2014.
Along with Union Minister Agnimitra Paul, Suvendu traveled to Chingrighata on Friday to examine the Metro building project. Ashwini stated, “The Trinamool government was opposed to development,” when speaking at the location. Repeated requests for permission were turned down. As a result, the High Court had to hear the case. The then-government appealed to the Supreme Court after the court ordered the work to start. The Trinamool government has received an appropriate response from the people of this state. The Center will make every effort to collaborate on the Kolkata Metro’s development.”
